Keauhou Sheraton will be the venue for this year’s Girls Exploring Math and Science.

Final board meeting of the year will be held at the community college at 2 PM.

The 2014 annual meeting will be held on the beach at NELHA following a tour of the new Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital.  Members may bring a picnic lunch or arrange for Subway sandwiches by contacting Linda Arlington.

At the West Hawaii Civic Center, we will open the 2013-2014 season with a presentation by member and wildlife photographer, Julie Steelman.  Julie has traveled to Africa several times, and will share her images of the magnificent creatures she has seen.  New member information will be available as well as sign-up sheets for upcoming events.

As a fundraiser for AAUW Funds, members of AAUW Kona will decorate and operate the food booth at the finish line of the Iron Man Triathlon.  Three shifts of workers hand out pizza, ice cream, fruit, and CONGRATULATIONS to the exhausted athletes as they complete the race.

We will begin at 5:30 PM with a potluck dinner at the large pavilion in Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club.  Our scholarship recipients have been invited to join us.  After dinner, we will view the 2012-2013 PowerPoint Yearbook and install new officers for 2013-2014.

An “Unhappy Happy Hour” will be held at Ray’s on the Bay at 5 PM to observe Pay Equity Day.  This is the day each year that indicates the extra time it takes a woman to earn the annual salary of a similarly trained man.

We will gather at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club for a special holiday FF.
